Isaiah's 1st Time Out

Does this look like a kid who understands he's in timeout?

Nope...I didn't think so either (he looks like he is signing "more" in this picture, but he is actually signing "ball").

Nonetheless, this is a picture of Isaiah in his very 1st timeout. 1.5 minutes of pure, singing joy in his high chair. Actually, he was more upset when I took him out because he thought he was about to get something to eat.

So, what was his crime? Throwing toys. And believe me, I'm not exagerating when I say he throws something all day long. He is all boy!

I've been hit in the head twice, stunned by shoes landing on the counter, watched our TV pegged countless times, and blocked Olivia from being hit more than once...this particular feat stunned JP as my Super Hero Mommy reflexes flew my arm into the air catching the impending toy in the manner of Superman.

But my Super Hero powers are severly limited leaving me at a loss as to how to make Isaiah stop...actually, no I don't want him to stop. I want him to learn to only throw toys/balls outside.

But when he picks up toys one after another saying, "no, no, no" and then hurls it across the room, it's obvious to me that saying "NO" isn't working...not that putting him in time out did anything...

...help!!!!

Teething Mayhem

Someday Olivia will love me for this picture...

...but these are moments I treasure. And if you're like me, you are drawn into this picture because of those beautiful brown eyes.

But what we really have going on here is some teething mayhem. The other day Olivia was yawning, and I happened to look inside her mouth and caught a glimpse of something white behind her bottom left tooth. On closer inspection I realized it was her first adult tooth cutting through (well, not really the first as one 6-year molar had already made its appearance about 2 weeks earlier and a 2nd is cutting through).

And actually, that was the way the bottom left baby tooth first made its appearance...suddenly! She was a great teether. She teethed early and easily. The only teeth that ever made her complain were the first year molars, and those messed up her sleep patterns for about 4 months. But she was completely done before she was even 15 months old.

Now Isaiah, on the other hand, is a terrible teether. He didn't get his first 2 teeth until about 9 months old. And those bottom 2 teeth took nearly a month to come in...an agonizing month of swollen gums and little white specks just under the surface of the gum.

Then Isaiah waited to get anymore until after he turned 1. It was closer to about 15 months, and then they all wanted to start coming at the same time. So just as we moved from KY to WA, Isaiah's entire gums began to swell with molars, and eye teeth, and regular teeth and now 3.5 months later he has one last little tooth that just doesn't want to cut through. Poor guy hasn't slept well in months; and poor mommy, neither have I. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Now Olivia was a great teether, but those baby teeth really like her mouth. Those two bottom baby teeth just don't want to come out to make room for the adult teeth. The right one is really loose, but that left one ain't budging a bit. I just don't even want to think about having to take her to the dentist for them to "help" it out...it took 4 people to last fall to give her a flu shot!

So, I'm praying constantly over Olivia's baby teeth. I'm serious! The Lord wants us to bring everthing before Him, and the thought of having to take her to the dentist to have a tooth pulled brings me to my knees every time I think about it!

1st Hair Cut

Before...

During...

After...

Never again, mom...

...it was fitting that upon meeting his hair stylist he immediately said, "Uh-oh!" She was the sweetest lady and so very patient with our screaming boy. But it was all worth it. Now we can get through our morning "boy routine" in under 5 minutes...woo-hoo!!!

Our Little Walker

Our big boy is walking! He took his first steps 10 days ago...3, then 5, then 4. And then for the next week he really didn't take any more, just a few here and a few there. He is still definitely crawling more than walking, but he can now walk almost across the room. Also, he just looks really handsome in this outfit (o:

Happy 1st Birthday Sweet Baby Boy!

I cannot believe Isaiah Love is 1 year old already! We got to celebrate his birthday twice...first in KY with JP's family and a few friends, and then again over Thanksgiving in Colorado with my family and a few friends. We love birthdays so it's fun to be able to celebrate more than once. As of his first birthday Isaiah has not taken any steps yet, but no worries, he must be the fastest crawler in town. It's funny to watch because when he wants to get somewhere fast he puts his head down (watching the floor) and then races away. He is growing almost as fast as Olivia. He is 95% for height and 90% for weight. I always realize how tall he is getting when I see someone else holding him. He is trying to say some words, but nothing intelligble yet. He sings the Veggie Tales theme song with great rhythm and melody...but every word sounds the same. He loves Veggie Tales so it looks like our extensive Veggie Tale library will continue getting good use. I just love that sweet baby boy!!!

That Girl Can Really Melt My Heart...

...I don't want to forget a couple moments in the last couple days, so I'm going to quickly blog about it.

Yesterday in the car out of the blue Olivia asked how to go to heaven. So I told her she needs to ask Jesus to forgive her sins. So she did. Then she asked if she was going to go to heaven now. I said yes, but not right now...that we need to live our lives loving God and loving others while we wait for Jesus to come get us. And she asked, "Is our car going to float up to heaven now mommy?" Still sorting through the details, but I love it!!!

Then today on the way home from church Olivia was tickling Isaiah and all of a sudden for the very first time she said, "I love you Isaiah. Don't worry. I'm right here, and I love you. I love you Isaiah." It completely melted my heart because usually she's asking if she can trade him in for ice cream.

I think some of the sweetest moments come driving down the road (o:

What I Love About You - 14 Weeks

(In Augusta, GA)

I love...
  • how your whole face lights up and your eyes get so bright when you smile.
  • your deep belly laughs.
  • how you really will sleep anywhere. It has made our travels so stress free!
  • your roly, poly chunky legs.
  • how when someone else is holding you, and I catch your eye your whole face lights up with that special "for mommy only smile."
  • how when your laying on your back you kick your feet so fast you look like you're running laying down.
  • how you fold your hands and intensely look at them.
  • how you grab your feet and wave them back and forth.
  • how you take only a few little catnaps, but sleep oh so blissfully sound at night.
  • how you like your cereal, but how you love it when Olivia feeds it to you.

What I Love About You - 8 Weeks

I got this great idea from another Blog and just had to incorporate it into ours.

  • I love your thick, black curly hair that looks straight and curly at the same time.
  • I love all your smiles, and I love that you have lots of them.
  • I love how you are starting to coo...you coo to me, you coo to daddy, and you even coo to your favorite stuffed animal - the green LeapFrog puppy named Scout.
  • I love how you wait patiently while I kiss and kiss each of your cheeks everyday.

  • I love how your yawn keeps getting bigger and bigger until it can't possibly get any bigger and then you end it off with a squeal.
  • I love how happy and content you are.
  • I love how adorable you look in any color.
