Tot School Feb 1 - Feb 5

We had a really great week this week for Tot Week. We did our combination Itty Bitty Bookworm, Tot School, and HWT (Handwriting Without Tears) activities. We were on more of a schedule and we all benefited (o: Again, I didn't take many pictures this week, but I did include at the bottom of the post an Amazon carousel featuring most of what we did as far as toys and books.

For our Bible Story this week we went back to read about Joseph and his coat of many colors because Olivia had earned a new Veggie Tales video and the one she picked was Heroes of the Bible and the Ballad of Little Joe...all about Joseph (o: We continued our memory verse from previous weeks:

"Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

I don't make a big deal about the memory verses. Basically, we listen to Songs for Saplings, and each week I choose one particular one to focus on. We'll sing it in the car or at night before bed time or just whenever I think about it. Sometimes I don't think she's really listening, but the other day she surprised me in Target when she all of a sudden she started singing the song for 1 Samuel 16:7. I think that's the great thing about music...it's a great learning tool.

Our theme this week was teeth, so we read books about teeth..."The Night Before the Tooth Fairy" and Olivia's favorite "Please Brush Your Teeth." Our activities revolved around the letter T and teeth.

Here we soaked hard boiled eggs overnight in coffee, tea, and diet coke to see how different drinks stain our teeth. The next morning she took a toothbrush to try and get them clean. We also colored eggs in kool-aid and practiced brushing them with a toothbrush.

This is Mat Man, and he is part of the HWT kit. Olivia loves to play with the wooden pieces to make Mat Man.

Olivia took this picture of our Itty Bitty cooking lesson. She helped make it, but she didn't want to eat it...she doesn't like marshmallows (o:

And then Olivia decided to have some water activities, so she took the baster and practiced filling it with water and then drinking it. She played at this for a while!

Olivia's creation from her art box.
