Sweet Fellowship

"Sweet fellowship. Lord, can I have a little sweet fellowship today?"

That was my prayer yesterday as I was driving down the road running a few errands with my two sweeties buckled in behind me. And the Lord did answer my prayer over the last two days, but not as I expected.

Yesterday after I whispered that prayer, I took the kids to Panera Bread and thought, "Okay, there is going to be an adult friend here who needs a little sweet fellowship today too. That's how He's going to answer my prayer."

Instead I got to sit in a booth with my two little ones and hear things like, "Mommy, may I please have a sip of your smoothie" and "that's yummy, can I please have another" and sweet little grunts from the little mister who was wide awake and yet content to sit there watching us enjoy our food. Now mind you, not every moment with our little sunshine is quite so pleasant and courteous, but it reminded me that keeping on with her training in the difficult times yields fruit. And I'm seeing the fruit more and more. I'm enjoying moments of sweet fellowship with my daughter and it thrills me...even when she does drink most of my smoothie!!

Then today, a sweet friend invited Olivia...and only Olivia...over for a fun play date. "Woohoo!" I thought as my mind started making a long list of all the things I could accomplish with only sweet Lil' Mister to care for. After all, he's about the most content baby I have ever seen...seriously! Put him in his swing, in his crib to watch the mobile, or under his floor tent and he'll be happy until he's hungry or tired. But the Lord kept whispering to my heart, "not today, not today. Isaiah Love today." I tried to push it aside like I do too many other times, but I gave in. I did two very quick errands while he was still taking his morning nap in the car seat and then headed home for his mid-morning feeding and play time.

At first I thought I should have just ran my errands because he just wanted to keep sleeping after his bottle, but after snuggling with him on the sofa for just a few minutes I started sensing that sweet fellowship again. So I snuggled with Isaiah...and Tigger Cat joined us too...while watching one of my favorite TLC TV shows. And then it got even sweeter when he woke up, and we laid on the floor together talking to each other. Oh, it just filled my heart with joy listening to his baby babble and grunts and watching his face light up and smile as we talked back and forth. I am so glad that not all the errands are run and that the house is not picked up (o: I am so thankful for sweet friends the Lord gives us! I am so thankful for the sweet fellowship Olivia obviously enjoyed at my friend's house today! And I am so thankful for the sweet fellowship a mommy can have with her 3 year old, 2 month old, and a cat! God is good!

Oh what a wonderful blog. Lord, please make this stick into my head. I had a moment like this today, a big puzzle on the floor, but they are still too far in between! Love you friend!
