Garden Update

It's been a while since I had a picture of the garden, but here is a picture of today's harvest. I'm thankful it is a small garden because it is just about right for taking care. I had gotten two other green peppers about a week ago so today I chopped all three up and froze them. I really use green peppers only for spaghetti sauce and between the 3 I froze today and the others that are still growing I will have plenty of peppers to last the winter. Hooray!

I also blanched the green beans and froze those. I've loved having the green bean plants. The tomatoes we will just slice and eat. Last week I picked one, and Olivia ate it then and there like an apple. Maybe next year I will plant one or two more tomato plants so I can make tomato sauce.

Things that have gone well...tomatoes, green peppers, beans, swiss chard (though I am a little at a loss as to how to use it because we get so much), and strawberries (they are growing great, not much yield this year, but hopeful for next).

Things that haven't gone well...spinach, lettuce (actually it grew great, but it was a very bitter variety...will have to pick more carefully next year), beets, onions, and basil (grew great, but I had zero opportunities to use fresh basil).

Things that were soso...peas and carrots were great while they lasted, but they didn't last long )o:
