Day 4

Monday was a fun day for us. Olivia has been waking up earlier than normal so we got started earlier...though we got so involved I forgot about her tumbling class. That morning she came into the office and saw everything laid out on the table. She excitedly said, "what are we going to do?" and grabbed our creation matching game and got started. It encouraged me because getting her engaged last Friday had been a challenge. I am trying to avoid power struggles at this point, yet help her learn to follow my lead in a more structured way, be focused and enjoy the activities.

Day 4 - God made the stars, the moon, and the sun.
Olivia created her own sun. Between this and the clothespin matching game, I'm not sure which one was her favorite. Gluing on the rays.

Painting the sun yellow...
The night before I had been thinking through how not to make a mess with the glitter...well, I ended up spilling it everywhere...our floor still sparkles.
Helping me clean up and add some shine to her sun.
Our creation wall...she loves coming into the office and seeing the sun. She says, "I made that sun. It sparkles."
Creation, clothespin matching game.

And my favorite part of the day? We sang a song "God Made the Land" -- to the tune of the Farmer in the Dell. We took turns singing it and saying all the different things God made. Well, that afternoon while we were running our errands, we were in Target and she started singing the song about all the things God made. Then she added a new verse...I was holding her at the time, she looked in my eyes, smiled, and sang:

"God made the mommies, God made the mommies, God made the mommies and it was good."

My heart still flutters just thinking about it (o:

I love it when they sing spontaneously. Ethan likes to sing a few from VBS that he learned (that I had learned as a little girl from my Dad.) It makes me think of both of them and I usually have to start singing to keep from crying.
