"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." John 15:13
This was the backbone passage for our Memorial Day church service yesterday, and it was the most powerful Memorial Day service I have ever attended. Both JP's mom and I were crying by the end of it and with all the sniffling going around the auditorium I would guess most everyone was.
There's no way I could do justice to the service in a BLOG, but I am so thankful for a godly pastor who passionately reminded all of us that the reasons I can BLOG about our family's passion for Jesus and this country is because of all the soldiers who have already laid down their lives and because of all the soldiers who are willing to lay down their lives. All these soldiers, our friends, have chosen to serve us, guard us, and sacrifice for us. Thank you!!! Surely the Lord has a glorious reward in heaven for all those who have laid down their lives in sacrifice for me, Olivia, and all of us here in America and abroad. Most of the time JP doesn't like me to BLOG about our personal military life, but I will say this...I am so proud to be the wife of a soldier!!! The wife of a soldier who is sold out on not only his country, but also his God!!!
And as phenomenal as the men and women of our military are, they are a mere shadow of Jesus Christ who fights the ultimate battle for us. He guards our lives day in and day out, even though most of the time we live as if there is no battle waging around us. And He laid down His life in the ultimate sacrifice so that I can spend eternity with Him. Thank you Jesus!!!!
PS I will post the link to the sermon as soon as it's available on the church's web site.
